Can anyone link me to a video of someone setting up a Vertex animation, one using a GUI not command line. I want to learn how to use this feature but I have no clue where to start.

Thanks for the tips, The last picture you posted is exactly what it's supposed to look. I'll double check the model/rig then. It's just odd to me that it exports correctly in .dmx format, but I guess .dmx is a bit more forgiving with shoddy work? XD

EDIT: OK, yeah, I don't know how I didn't notice this before, In my blend file the model is broken up into about 8 different pieces and are puzzled together into one mesh with overlapping vertices. when I export it to .smd those overlapping vertices combine. None of the vertexes aren't weighted.

And yes, this isn't planned to be used for Source, if our renderer could take Dmx that would be amazing, but unfortunately it doesn't support it at this time, especially since in the end we convert all our .smd models and animations to .bmd which is our own personal format that is more condensed than .smd

Not to sound ignorant, but is that really relevant? I don't understand why in a source engine discussion board that is the first question anyone ever asks anytime I ever request help here.
It has to be .smd because that's what our devs decided to have our models rendered with in our code

Hi, I'm working on an animation that is required to be in .SMD formatting and it works in blender, and it exports fine in .DMX formatting, but any time I export it into .SMD format it breaks, can anyone look at the model/animation and tell me why? Model Dropbox Link [www.dropbox.com]

I got the file, so you can delete it. While I don't completely understand why the size of that bone would cause that to happen, I do appreciate the time you took to figure out my problem.

I can export this model in say, .dmx, and it works fine, but something with this specific animation or weight paint is causing the leg to distort when it exports to .smd

My model's left leg bends in when exported to .smd for a reason that I can't seem to find after hours of testing. Short of redoing the entire thing, is there anything anyone sees that I can do to fix this problem?

The game the model goes into strictly uses SMD unfortunately, I can't even use VTA on the animations either. It's a very limited enviroment that as the animiator have very little control over. But I appreciate your help very much.
