For flexes, first import the main SMD, then the VTA, before importing the rest of the SMDs.

Download Crowbar (a decompiling tool), decompile the model(s), import the SMD(s) into Blender, and use VTFEdit to export the VTF textures as PNG or such files, then import those to Blender as well.

Problem: Shading is sorta broken this way, so you'll have to split edges and such yourself.

That was also a problem with the previous DotA 2 Source 2 compatibility (unless I'm wrong), so nothing's broken, just not added yet.

Back when DotA 2 was first upgraded to Source 2 (or had a version that was running Source 2), the Blender Source Tools were updated to support it. Not sure about the current DotA 2 Source 2 version, however, but you can bet your (virtual) hats the Blender Source Tools will be updated to support it fully at least once Source 2 will be fully released.

I assume you mean Team Fortress 2. You probably forgot the... CritColor proxy? Something like that. Just take an existing Team Fortress 2 weapon material (that will have all proxies you need), then just edit it to your liking. I hope that helps.

I've been able to consistently reproduce this bug.
If I make a new session and go to import a Source mesh, the default armature mode is "Append to Target".

If I import a DMX, the next time I go to import a Source mesh, it's set to "Make New Armature".
If I change it back to "Append to Target", import a DMX, and go to import another mesh, it's at "Append to Target" again, and will stay there until I change it myself or make a new session or something, haven't tested that thoroughly (except making a new session).
This is regardless of whether the DMX has multiple parts/objects or only one.

But on the other hand, if the first import is an SMD, the next import will default to "Append to Target", as expected. If one imports a DMX after an SMD, it also defaults to "Append to Target".


Observed in the 64-bit Steam version of Blender 2.74, using version 2.5.2 of the Blender Source Tools on a 64-bit Windows 7.
