Greetings y'all, long time no announcement, did you know in the past this group was used to help promote japanese games getting onto steam, and even to support r18+ content as well. Today I would like to ask anyone who has citizenship in the UK or European Union to sign these petitions (thoroughly and accurately) to increase the likelihood of people being able to play the games they have purchased long after the publisher of said games pulls the plug.

Hello Anime Faction! This is the Steam group admin CharMomone here, as you're likely well aware this steam group has been inactive for quite some time and some of you may be curious as to why, which is why I'm here today to shed some light onto that.

So Anime Faction was originally conceived back on the forums of a gaming website called GameTrailers, they had allowed for creation of groups on said forum called factions, hence where the name Anime Faction came from. Roughly around 2009 during the conception of the steam group feature I had permission to make a steam group called GTAF (GameTrailers Anime Faction) which was invite only solely for the purposes of arranging game nights within the anime faction group. Fast forward to around 2011 GameTrailers announced they were shutting down the community forums on their website which wasn't long before the forums itself was shut down, so Anime Faction migrated to it's own forums and I decided to make a new public Anime Faction steam group to commemorate this.

Over time the forums side of the Anime Faction was dwindling and becoming more reclusive, effectively we had no flow of new members to breathe life into the group as a whole and overall despite some attempts at social media on my part and others we never managed to carve out a place for ourselves online. Indifference to the group as an entity had set in, people started focusing on their adult lives, and the advent of the popularity of discord marked the end for an interest in new members, eventually the Anime Faction became just another private discord group of old friends. I had tried to integrate the steam community I had worked consistently on promoting over the years to the discord group so as to try to breathe new life into the community once again but that was shot down, effectively this steam group was an outside entity to them and they no longer wanted to participate with it.

Despite everything, I had tried to maintain an active presence on the Steam side of things, the Anime Faction Steam Greenlight Collection was a massive success and something I consider as a badge of honor for our group as a whole, curation was a moderately successful at the time, but once again due to lack of support from the forums side and dwindling activity in the steam community it meant that I had two options, either try to rebrand this group into it's own entity or let it fall to apathy.

Due to personal health and mental well being reasons I had decided to cease updating this group. I tried to pass it off to the founding members to see if they would have an interest but it was utterly irrelevant to them so I just maintained inactive ownership.

tl;dr, Valve will allow any type of game content as long as it's not illegal nor submitted in a trolling manner, regardless of whether someone else or someone at Valve finds it untasteful.

Please note that any major change to their currently existing store policy guidlines will wait until they finish the tools to enable users to hide content they don't wish to see and for moderators to better police their game communities.

Personally I find this as the best outcome, though it is amusing that they cite Anime as their example of a game people don't want to see. Plus all the mentions of their own employees regarding content they may not like leads me to believe that they might have had a hand in the recent issue we had with visual novels being pulled because of their content. Regardless though, this is a good step moving forward for Steam to be an open platform that anyone can find something they like even if someone else doesn't.

First of all I want to apologize for the back to back announcements in consideration to the lack of activity on this group, and to those that would rather have little to no announcements at all. Plus I understand the whole meme that petitions have been subjected to in regards to actually getting positive feedback.

However, there is a petition going on that is currently nearing 5,000 signatures that could help sway Valve to relax their currently strict guidelines regarding sexual content in videogames. If this is something you would like to support then follow the link below to the petition page.

Various visual novel developer teams and studios have disclosed they they recently have had their games removed from the steam store due to a complaint from Valve that their games have sexual content that goes against their store policy.

There's a rumor going around that an outside individual or group has been filing complaints against these games regardless if the games actually have sexual content or not, but regardless if that is the truth or not the fact is that Valve is being more restrictive on the type games that is allowed on Steam again despite many popular games having unrestricted nudity.
