Funimation just announced that they will be carrying the Higurashi New Project. (Right now the anime is being called "「ひぐらしのなく頃に」 新プロジェクト" which means "Higurashi New Project" but Funimation seems to be calling it "Higurashi New" for some reason.)

I had been concerned that there might not be a localization since it took months for this announcement (and we're right on the eve of when it would've aired if it had been on-track), but despite Funimation's past with regard to this series it is at least good that it'll get some attention. Hopefully it won't get mismanaged the way DEEN's version did.

On that note, the official anime website got an English translation some time ago.
