With the current version of game called "Battle Cry of Freedom" being shown to the public recently on YouTube and through livestreams, the state of the game has finally come to light. Through watching with my own eyes and speaking with previous regiment commanders from North and South, this seems to be a plausible game to reignite the passion we all saw in the beloved mod we poured hundreds, if not thousands, of hours in. The mechanics are very similar, the maps are larger, the game runs better, and has improved graphics. With my only quarrel being the melee system, which hopefully will be fixed as the developers have hinted at, I think this game actually has the potential for a community to exist and thrive on. Without making any promises, I would like to poll for interest using the platform I have here that was built large over the 4 years that the 8thVA existed thanks to the many members who are still in this group.
