The Coldstream Guards are the longest standing regiment in the British Army. Founded by General George Monck in 1650 because of the need of a standing. It is one of two regiments in the household division alongside the Royal Horse Guards regiment.
The origin of the coldstream come from the british civil war. The fought in the battle of Dunbar.
They saw extensive service between the years of 1750-1816 part of the Seven years war, The american revilioution, and the Napolianic wars.
One of the guards most famous actions was at the battle of Waterloo when they held Hougoumont from oncoming waves of french regulars. They held it for four hours then losing it. They only 1 hour later launched a counter attack and retook it.
