About Us

History

Originally known as the Wessex Yeomenry, we originated from the raising of cadres from the ranks of the Royal Wiltshire Yeomenry, the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars and the Royal Devon Yeomanry to form four squadrons to act as a riot response unit in the city of Wessex on April 1st, 1791.

Soon after the start of the Napoleonic Wars, the Wessex Yeomenry was designated as infantry and valiantly served in countless battles. In light of the victories, the Wessex Yeomenry was awarded the title of Royal Wessex Yeomenry on June 8th, 1806.

1stRWY Steam Group Overhaul!

Hello comrades,

You all have most likely noticed some recent changes on the Steam group and that is because my team and I have been working tirelessly to make the group into an extension of the Discord server.

So far we have implemented the following:

Up to date schedule
A Code of Conduct
A copy of the rules - including rules for special units, not just infantry
A brief summary of how the 1st Royal Wessex Yeomenry began
Links to our YouTube page, an invite link to the Discord server, as well as the modern history of the 1st Royal Wessex Yeomenry for your reading pleasure

In the near future you can expect a breakdown of our ranking structure, how to attain higher ranks, highlights of our battles, as well as in-depth history of the 1st Royal Wessex Yeomenry!
