Gathered in 1995, the band Slipknot started to work on his music, and by 1996, the group had accumulated enough material.

Musicians borrowed from relatives and friends $ 30,000 and independently recorded and produced the CD. The album was released in a small edition of just 1000 copies. And spread clandestine ways. But thanks to him, Slipknot became more famous and even started to go to concerts in other cities.

While in January the band finished mixing, guitarist Donnie Styles left the band after several conflicts. He was replaced by guitarist Craig Jones, but he soon moved on to sampling and keyboards, as it was the only one who knows how to do it, and his place was taken by guitarist Mick Thompson. Both practically did not participate in the recording of the disc, but the disc cover they recorded as participants.

The album was released on Halloween, October 31, 1996. The album contains eight songs, as well as a hidden bonus track "Dogfish Rising". The album is very experimental. As mentioned later, the musicians themselves: "We didn't play music, and a salad of music".

July 13, 1997, the album was reissued by the company-ismist Recordings.

Since the CD was published in a small edition, and the group soon became known, the demand for the album was increased. Soon he had sold at different auctions for $ 350.
