You're going to have to fight yourself. It's a sad truth but people tend to fight what benefits them sometimes. As illogical as that sounds, it's just how it is.

Generally I am unfriendly to new players. Which bothers me because I want to be seen in a positive light.

I tend to do that too. For me it's just so frustrating watching them fuck up not knowing what to do. It's obvious and can be a little tricky and won't work right away. But before you say anything to them, you have to think about it. It can be hard in the heat of the moment, but you think of what you have to say is of any value besides allowing you to get something out. Because that person will probably not improve. You wanna reword what you're saying in a light where it's actual advice and not an insult. If you can of course. You have to remind yourself if you just insult and refuse to help them you only annoy yourself as they play poorly and they don't improve. If you keep giving them advice they tend to improve bit by bit and that calms me seeing them actually try to improve and play better. That tends to work for me. If they refuse to listen simply mute them and move on. It not only helps you treat them better, you tend to overall become a more tolerant person.
