Disdain, nadir, acquiesce, querulous and surmise are definitely very common words. I honestly don't believe you never come across at least "disdain" and "nadir", I mean seriously?

Isn't that's the point? Three are the wrong answer, and one being the correct one. Which words in the test you come across that aren't synonymous with any of the given words?
