And yes it is worth bringing up, because it helps and supports my input with a number of experiences that I've had before as a mod.

Being a moderator in a meaningless Steam group is not worth any medal or claps.
Even being a moderator in a popular sub-reddit is not an achievement. You could spend your time on other things and achieve much more with less effort even.

We need to give more power to the moderatos to decide. I have been satisfied with every single decision Lewin has made so far. I couldn't care less about the rules though. They're just excuses to point fingers to when things don't go exactly how some people want them to go.

Locking a thread because it's a risk for good forum atmosphere is pretty damn justified. That's what TF2 discussion moderators do, too. And they do very, very good job when they get to decide what is actually shit and what isn't; because then it's from common sense's perspective and not from rulebook's perspective. That's why moderators need more power, the results have been proven to be quite magnificent that way.

I'd rather choose this "mod abuse" few people out there are complaining about than tons of shit threads that are just waste of space.

Hell, even Valve allows such "abuse" from TF2/CS:GO/Dota2 discussion board moderators. It's under their decision what goes to the dumpster and what not. And they actually do pretty damn good job at maintaining a good forum atmosphere. Same method should apply here, until it's obviously causing some serious trouble and not just one thread being removed; which would die out very soon anyway.

Also moderators need to lock threads before they escale into huge flamewars, that's what moderators on official discussion boards do as well. It's fairly easy to predict the time when locking is just the best solution; it starts from few insults and then once you turn your back for a while the entire thread is derailed. No one should want that, it's not why these boards exist.

Mine has 5. Only one of which is a site I've actually used in the last few years. And of course none of the sites that leaked ever had access to my email password, or the passwords I use on any other site but themselves for that matter. It's just inevitable that some of the sites you use will get hacked if you use the same email for a couple decades. Hell, one of the sites they found a leak from has been dead for almost 10 years.

Yes, the worst part is, some people actually think it should be illegal to register with fake name and contact info.
It's correct that they won't get your email password unless you used it to the site, however they can access your account on that specific site and if you've saved something private there, you should be worried about it.

Like Dropbox has around 60M leaks, I assume that site contains lots of private content.
