The FaN is pretty good IMO, there's just a curve on how to use it.
Yeah though, if the Soda Popper is going to get mini-crits; I'd be fine with a damage penalty.

No, it doesn't fire 6 shots slightly faster than the Stock Scattergun.
Neither of them do, even with the increased reload speed.
Here are numeral statistics that displays the amount of time for shooting 6 rounds.
  • Scattergun: 3.75
  • Soda Popper: 5.58
  • Force-a-Nature: 6.486
Regardless, the FaN is okay.
Soda Popper just has the ridiculous reload speed.
Those stats don't sound entirely accurate. It's reload speed is 1.23 seconds. And it's firing speed is 0.315 seconds.
So shouldn't it go more like:
1st shot: 0 seconds
2nd shot: 0.315 seconds
3rd shot: 1.545 seconds
4th shot: 1.86 seconds
5th shot: 3.09 seconds
6th shot: 3.405 seconds

While the scattergun should look like:
1st shot: 0 seconds
2nd shot: 0.625 seconds
3rd shot: 1.25 seconds
4th shot: 1.875 seconds
5th shot: 2.5 seconds
6th shot: 3.125 seconds

So did the stats change from the wiki? Now that I think about it, it doesn't quite fire 6 shots as fast, but pretty damn close all things considered.

Yes but once you have the build up, which wouldn't be hard, it's pop whenever you feel like it. Crit-a-cola can't be used mid-combat, has to be used before for the most part. And even then I consider the crit-a-cola currently the most broken weapon in the game, we don't need a scout main copying it.
All else that needs to be done is increase how much damage is required to fill it up.
Again, it's fine if you can just pop the mini-crits with the Soda Popper.
We can already do that with the Cleaner's Carbine, and I think it's balanced.

Also mini-crits are more benefitual to scout than any other class. He relies on dodging enemy fire rather than taking it. He relies on sneak attacks, so he doesn't have to worry, all he has to do is pop the mini-crits on a situation that's benefitting to him.
Well yeah, but he can already do that with the Crit-a-Cola.
He can't freely use the Soda Popper's gimmicky hops because he has to deal damage now.
Consequently for these gimmicky jumps, people are better using the FaN; and they both pretty much do the same thing by providing mobility and disorienting the enemy.
Except however, the FaN is much more dependable and performs better at both roles.
The knockback on it is pretty good for flanks, and the self-knockback is good for set-ups.
The Force-a-Nature has always been on-demand with this.
The Soda Popper was dependant on running around for gimmicky jumps
Now, it's dependant on dealing damage for gimmicky jumps.
They've made it much worse, and it's about time they actually made it decent.
The FaN is overall bad though, and I wouldn't have any problems with the soda popper having mini-crits if it followed the FaN in terms of stats, minus the bonus pellets.

That's why this doesn't work. It essentially becomes an improved stock scattergun. Hell that's why I think it either shouldn't have it's insane stats or should lose the hype altogether.
