The same mandatory curriculum for everyone for 9 years, then optional 3 years.

Thats cool
Would've been neat to see the data on what science they're teaching

My country used to be on top with the PISA results, since then we've been falling. Glad to see the younger generation isn't so hopeless in every country. Although I don't care, because I feel like education is solely based on individual's own motivation.

Be a post-Soviet country where education is a must.

You can't expect a babbling ball of person to become successful by throwing into the world and saying good luck. It is the duty of the older generation to correctly raise the younger generation.

I suppose that's true, but obviously it's also up to the student himself whether or not he will succeed. In my country teachers have no power to do anything though, students can basically annoy teachers as much as they like; literally say fuck you or go suck a dick to them, etc.. and if teachers yell back to them they risk getting fired.

And 70% of the class plays with their phones anyway, so no wonder our PISA results are falling. Students are really protected here, to the point where they can pretty much do what they want to do. Like recently in the news, one student has been playing music in a class for the whole autumn season and the teacher is too afraid to take action against him.

This is basically why home schools and private schools are a thing of the future for those here who really wish to study.

In Estonia we just don't have any young-er teachers, so the older ones are pretty strict.

If you're a strict teacher in Finland, you're easily a former teacher soon.
But hey, good job neighborhood country, proud of you.

Estonia is great.
We had "nigger" written on a worksheet earlier as well.

Looks pretty nice, I have visited Estonia several times.
Hopefully your country handles the current refugee problem well, our country is falling because we take far more refugees than we can afford.
Nigger is a very banned word in my country and all around Nordic as far as I know.

No refugees want to come here in the first place. We ain't got the welfare money and we're pretty racist.
