What were useful things that videogames taught you that helped you in real life?

Playing RPGs for years made me realize my passion in life was writing, if that counts.

They also inspired me to use RPG Maker, which has taught me basic Game Theory and Game Design.

God of War inspired me to read actual Greek Myth, which in turn has got me interested in Mythology in general.

Civilization speaks for itself.

Elder Scrolls inspired me to read up on writing fantasy and lore.

That as long as games exist, you'll always be able to ignore your real life problems.
Also, Ther.

Mount & Blade: Napoleonic Wars and Napoleon: Total War got me interested in the Napoleonic era.
Team fortress 2 told me there is always a way out in every situation. With map design of course.

That we'd probably be better off without them, to be honest.

I believe that the Legacy of Kain series may have influenced my usage with words. I don't consider this as "helpful" by a large degree, but I consider it as being noteworthy.
