No it didn't. The servers just fucked up due to so many users logging in. Back from work.

1. DDoS is not a "hack".
2. There is no evidebce that Steam servers were DDoSed. If there is, please link.

I assume you realize that Steam chat message or forum post is not a trustworthy source?
Besides, I highly doubt that Steam Support is working today. It's Christmas.
And even with automatic replies it takes a few days to get a response.

I seriously doubt that the server load Steam gets during a sale would be enough to completely crash every Valve related server, worldwide, for as long as it did.
