When I see how peoples are glued to their "smart"phones or "smart"watches, I fell like transhumanism is already here and all the fearmongering about it is only engineered to prevent peoples from realising it's already here.
Anyways, the premise of the topic title isn't all that interesting but I clicked it to see if anyone was dripping with sarcasm or snark like usual at the idea that you're supposedly "the only one" who feels this way and no one else ever got scared about the future. lol
Like, the question is poorly worded and easy to make fun of but that poor wording is also the only reason I decided to click onto the topic.
As for transhumanism - I don't see the issue for the most part. It starts by making it so disabled people who are missing limbs can walk or have arms again, or people with locked in syndrome can do literally anything at all again - and that's actually a pretty good thing.
I suppose my main concern comes from when the main supplier of the BCI tech that helps people with locked in syndrome is going on about "mind viruses" - that doesn't make the products he's selling that go into your brain seem safe, and makes it sound like if he can he'll do censorship directly on your brain if he deems your opinions, views, wants, etc. to be "mind viruses". For those with locked-in syndrome, this is probably better than being stuck as a vegetable but it's still extremely grim and locks out any potential for someone who values their freedom of speech / expression / etc. and also the speech / expression / etc. of others, to use the technology if it ever advances to a recreational level.
...and enjoying the last few years left of the "human era". This is how cancer ridden patient lives like, I wonder? Just enjoying the life that ledt while it lasts until the end?
