Most things heal over time from damage and suffering but after a while, everyone dies.
Unfortunately, for some people, it won't ever get better before they die. But the probability of being that very unlucky sucker is not too terribly high so - for you - it probably will get better.
Terminal values aren't easy to change, though. You're probably not going to take a pill that makes you forget about whatever you cared about and make you just want to collect stamps instead, because while collecting stamps would be easier, such a magic pill doesn't exist and you're probably going to fight pretty hard to prevent yourself from being forced to take that pill if it ever does get created, for the very simple fact that something like you with different terminal values, arguably isn't you, and thus who you were before they got changed would have died.

What are first responders doing with sniff dogs and rapidly clearing away blocks of rubble after earthquakes and building collapses then?
still. Might as well move through
the storm.
That part
It's not incomparable.
OP isn't likely in an emergency so there's probably only a very low chance that someone will be trying to "dig them out" of whatever situation that they're in, unlike an emergency situation where you can probably bet that a team of around 30 people would be trying to help, HOWEVER, that does not mean that no one might come along to help.
...and if the day comes that an angel arrives and offers you a way out, - take it -
don't be like that guy from that one joke / parable who got stuck on a tiny strip of land in a flood and turned down a cruise ship, a sailboat, and a rowboat who offered help, each time saying "No thank you, God will save me", and then he drowned and when he got to heaven, he asked God, "WHY DIDN'T YOU SAVE ME?!" and God responded, "I sent you 3 boats, dummy!"
Come online with a name like that and the future will not be kind.
