All these things should have a cost.
If you cannot pay, forced labor.
If they dont feel the need to pay that is good for them and it is up to the developers/ owners to make a business model that is effective in keeping maintenance costs covered as well as profit. Eventually maybe just keep it on a maintenance level cost.
Without costs being covered the servers will stop.
Some people wont care they will move to the next 'free' game.
No you pay your way or there will be no way. The economy is what gives you your internet connection and the electricity to power it. Full stop.
you can inform them that everything costs money and there is a physical connection of hardware and energy being used.
Say check their fans on the systems on a hot day, a server can run hotter and they need cooling and that costs money.
I know that is my point. I answered the way I did and others answered regarding games. The whole point is to what did the OP mean regarding his post? Games or everything else?
