Canada to remove retaliatory tariffs
Canada will remove its retaliatory tariffs on a long list of US products that comply with the existing North American trade deal, seeking to lower tensions with the White House. Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the decision Friday after a meeting with his cabinet.

The government is changing its tariff policy to align more closely with US measures. That means a broad range of US-made consumer products will no longer face a 25% tariff when imported into Canada, as of Sept. 1, as long as they’re shipped in compliance with the provisions of the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement. It’s a major policy shift for Canada, which was one of the only countries to retaliate against US.

Well love him or hate him, Mr Trump manhandled these other countries in lieu of these tariffs.

Thank you, Mr Trump :steamhappy:

They knew they messed up once they realized they were the only country besides China to retaliate.

Do you also like it when corporations release updates to electronic products that take away functionality from them and put that functionality behind the paywall of a subscription service, even though it was entirely capable of the feature without internet, such as heating a seat?

Do you really want to live in a world where you have no rights as a consumer and no one's word / promise is credible or trustworthy?

You have the same rights as ever. You are talking as if Canada isn't known for their high taxes to begin with.

This is partly correct. The tariffs being removed are under the same situation that those items the Americans had also removed.

It isn't just willy nilly pick a product, I just don't recall the trade agreement that covers the items both countries are un-tariffing. CANUM or some crap like that.

Is that so? Tell me more about how figures not honoring their agreements is leaving people with the same rights as they had before, when stuff like these are anti-consumer practices :

Remove the tariffs just long enough to stock up on bourbon, then stick them back on.
its not a complete lifting of tariffs afaik.
Canadians are falling like delicate maple leaves on a crisp autumn morn....

Wonder what happened to "we're in for the long run", "we're not going to bow down", "we'll export and import from other countries", "we don't need the USA" etc etc?

like tarrifs is to discourage imports and to make people buy domestic by making importing pricier

This is the thing with Canada. Any and all excuses to tax more and give less is essential to the liberals here. Then we get ♥♥♥♥ like the Carbon Tax which was of itself taxed by GST. Yep, Canadian taxes are subject to being taxed and I sure as ♥♥♥♥ don't feel like I'm getting my moneys worth.

I bet the Canadians regret not electing Piere now. Trump is cited as the main reason he lost, but he had an anti-trump plan in mind. Carney's just folding like a paper airplane. Trump's really not interested in a new trade deal, unless it's trade all of your land in exchange for U.S. citizenship.

B.M.W. rescinded that policy after customer backlash anyway.[www.edmunds.com]
