Is it okay to ask for Steam Points?
I’ve seen people give out Steam Points for reviews, artworks, and even funny comments in the Steam community. But I’m wondering how do you all feel about asking for them directly?

On one hand, they’re free points people get just from buying games, so it’s not like real money is being spent. On the other hand, some say it comes off as begging and clutters discussions.

Do you think it’s acceptable to ask for Steam Points if you’re, say, sharing good artwork or reviews? Or should it be something that only comes naturally from others?

casual nudge rarely hurts. Bubble dot com bout to burst.

Technically it is against Steams TOS, however it is usually overlooked or you get a warning from moderation.
we'll wait for a steam mod to answer for us

I got banned a couple times for doing so. You should really just let the awards come to you.

aggressively spinning on a pole and falling and let the points come to you 😏

Depends on the user. If I were to ask, I'd get banned within the hour (and I never asked before but I've gotten banned for even just saying that I like the Jester award in a topic about the Jester award, that was posted to the sub-forum titled "Steam Community" for discussing official Steam features). Other users will be perfectly fine.

It's not really worth it, tbh. With how easily you can get banned even for saying positive things about the community features and moderators, what do you need points for community items for when it's only a matter of time until you you get completely banned from the community - not to mention that you can get banned for using official features in the way that they were designed?

It's a waste of time and money to increase engagement on a platform where the moderators don't even want you engaging in the first place. Reddit is the same way.

It's low probability. And even if you get them, do you want them?

This @OP  if people want to give you point they will, if not then you gotta wait for it.

no. not only is it obnoxious, steam doesn't allow it.

it's like being demanded to give a tip for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ job. if your work is good i'd have given you a tip (or in this case, points) already. begging for them makes me want to give you them less, or not at all
Also, this topic is a really cheeky way to ask for points without actually asking. Nice job!

I dont think so. I don't expect steam points, but finding out i got an award is a nice surprise, which is what getting an award should feel like.

Otherwise it just feels disingenuous

if it's a friend then i am okay, if not then i tend to block them

I would say asking for awards lowers the probability of getting them, or just makes people give you jesters lol, they are usually willing to give them to you if they like an artwork or a review anyway, no need to openly ask for it

It's perfectly normal for beggars.

I don't think you will get many that way. Better to just be active on the forum. The political threads are good for clowns.
