The in-game overlay has tabs and a refresh button.
Tabs in the main steam window would be most helpful.

The Steam Client has a refresh button!

Open up your Steam Settings and go to the Interface tab. Then tick the box next to "Display Steam URL Address bar when available".

Well if this is implemented already I can't find it but, steam really needs a way to disable group notifications separately!
Also, bring guild wars 2 to steam :P

sub categories (so I can make a shooter category and divide it by multiplayer, singleplayer, alien shooters, military, ect.

That's a decent Idea. Also, holding Shift while in the Library page to select mulitple games at once and uninstall/install them at once would be nice.
