Is there a reason they wouldn't?

My bank issued Visa Debit card is never accepted by steam.
I have had to resort to other cards. Strangely pre-paid visa debit cards work for me.
Does anyone want to name banks? If we raise a big enough fuss maybe they can fix it, or close our accounts for being roudy...

Credits cards are just a lot safer, among various other reasons that I'm sure you can Google to find out.

Well I don't know about where you live, but my Mastercard debit card issued from the Commonwealth Bank in Australia runs through all the same safety and insurance systems as the Mastercard credit card I could also get. "Googling it" is showing a lot of "actually, these days it's much the same", too, so if you want to quote something specific, feel free.
never had problems usuing debit card before

Those are just 3 links which all state that credit cards are better for online purchases. Maybe your bank over in Australia does it differently, but for me credit cards have always been the standard.

Also, debit cards draw directly from your bank account, whereas I can review all credit card purchases first and contest any suspicious transactions before it actually draws from my checking account.
