Will the age verification system finally mean I don't have to put my dob in for every over 18 game I look at
Pretty much the title, I find it wild, I've had my steam account since October 2009, 15 years ago, no matter which way we assume I opened my account (at the age when you can play 3+ games or when I turned 13) I am definitely old enough to look at 18+ games, yet even on games that I own (GTA V for example) I'm presented with the "enter date of birth to continue" like seriously I can't look at the store page of a game I own? The part that bugs me the most with the old way (cause I'm working on the assumption that it will change) is if you enter the wrong date to view the game it remembers and locks you out until you clear cookies, if you enter the correct date it remembers the date unless you clear cookies but it still asks every time you want to look at an 18+ game

Unfortunately.... you do. This won't change anything.

Don't forget: the age stuff is merely to please your local government and it also doesn't apply to Steam as a whole. It's also only used during checkout. But birthdate verification otoh is to protect visitors from accessing stuff they don't want to see, and also to protect Steam from liability.

If you haven't bought anything then you also never used a credit card and never verified your age.

I mean, I use a debit card for my steam purchases and do not want to get a credit card for the sole purpose of an age check, hopefully they implement other methods of verification as this is ridiculous tbh
