Cross platform compatible. Not sure it is on xbox, but i played with a friend who owns it on epic game store while i play it on steam.
It is not bad. The most disappointing thing is the lack of items you can build. You can see my review here when i post the link to it:

And yes, i played it for 163 hours. The other issue i ran into is the dot wall issue. But other than that, the game is great, the more players you invite the more fun it gets..lol.
Ever think of not being useless?
Aside from useless people, I highly recommend Smallands or Abiotic Factor. Smallands is shorter but more exploration based, sort of like a fairy version of Grounded. It offers A LOT if you like base building. Abiotic Factor on the otherhand, focus is mainly on discovery and story.
