So why is there almost always at least 1 porn game in the new & trending tab?
I don't mind porn. but i'm not the kind of person that would spend 10-20 euros on porn games.

I'm curious why there always seems to be at least 1 porn game in the new & trending tab on steam.

Does steam just have that big of a market for porn games?
Do people just buy all of the porn games?

I have looked at the pages of a few that popped up and they always seem to be the same visual novel or minimal gameplay type of porn with your default fetishes.
They never seem to have actual gameplay/story that sets them apart from the rest.

So i find it hard to believe that there are enough people that spend 10 euros to basically play the same kind of porn game over and over.

So if you are a person that does purchase those games on steam. i'd love to hear your view on the situation.

Yes i know i can hide the porn games. I don't do this because they only ever pop up on new and trending for me. never on the main banner. And in the event that a game with actually interesting gameplay would pop up with that content i'd rather not see it blocked.

Obviously, because they sell. If you want smutty games with gameplay though, they exist

Memoirs of a battle brothel
Future Fragments
Scarlet Maiden
Baldr Sky (requires community patch for the lewd parts)
Flipwitch - forbidden sex hex
etc, you can look up more if you're interested.
It's because of how that section works.

Games are either "trending" or they are not. Once a game is "trending", it stays in the list until it is pushed out the bottom.
I have the box checked to see such. I never see any of it unless Im looking through a discovery queue or in a list in the store. Likely because it generally isnt the kind of thing I search for or buy so I only see genre adjacent games that also include that stuff..

I genuinely only see it in new and trending which i thought was supposed to be a universal list.
I don't get it in discovery queue's or the main section of the store page.

Yes.

There are a LOT of porn games. You don't even need to buy like 1% of them for them to be showing up in that list.

So i find it hard to believe that there are enough people that spend 10 euros to basically play the same kind of porn game over and over.

I think you might notice that a lot of games are just the same type of game over and over as well; people buy them, play them enough until they get bored of it, and then move onto something else.

The number of games that you'll play for a long time and keep you coming back are very few.

Only difference is far fewer porn games are multiplayer games as a service so there's less built in replayability or whatever you'd call it.

I have noticed they're showing up a lot on the ads now, including up to literally showing actual sex in the ads, something ive not seen on any platform. Might be a glitch from a bad aglorithm, in fact probably is, but it's still not a great show.

You find THAT hard to believe?

Never heard of microtransactions, CSGO skins/knifes, people paying 80 bucks for pre-order, etc.....?
