Not true. Just discard the equipment on the carrier and buy it again for no prestige loss. It's a stupid mechanic that the devs should have just enabled the torp bomber to resupply and negated the tedium of clicking through menus. I see a number of glaring common sense issues that they should have resolved long ago, frankly.
See my above post. You can easily just discard the equipment and re-buy it from the carrier. Even then, as mentioned, you can just resupply them at an airfield. It's just a bad design by the developers because there ARE ways to get more of them - In fact, I would argue it's intended for you to resupply them giving the inordinate amounts of enemies they spam at you - it's either strangely limited in how you can do so, to the point it's unrealistic, or involved tedious navigation through menus to achieve.
The equipment is definitely useful and I like that it lends further customization to my units. I just wish it was 100% more user friendly. Clicking through menu upon menu is fine when I'm setting up my units. Doing it mid-battle for Aux units is kinda annoying, but again sometimes useful, but the absolute worst having to click fighters, discard bombs, add bombs, etc...
