I had trouble getting into this game at first, with the gameplay, and I came back to it several months later. When I realized that it wasn't an interesting game because of its gameplay, but because of its characters, it completely changed my approach. I loved every character (with a slight preference for Daria and Jackie). The soundtrack is excellent. It's a game that I hope will bring a tear to your eye. 9/10.

If I could put one game under every single person's pillow on this earth, I'd choose spiritfarer. I'm a better person for having played through it and interacted with it's community.

It took me 21 hours to realise how utterly annoyed I was with this game! And it's not the game's fault!

Yes, I was lured in by the stunning Art Direction and the beautiful 2d Animations (absolutely worth the time I spent on the game and my biggest reason why it took so long to give up on it)! But oh boy, am I the wrong target market! Now, I should mention.... I AM NOT A COSY GAME FAN!
So with that out of the way:

1. IT WAS A HEADACHE!!! I ended up spending full days just feeding the sheep so they don't eat my vegetable, planting/watering/gathering stuff, fishing so I can feed my ungrateful, completely dependant and toxic companions, and I barely had time for anything else! Yes, I would love to explore the map, YES, I would love to finally get Astrid's stupid boyfriend, YES, I just want to send everyone through the bridge so they can stop demanding me to feed them all the time, but no! THE STUPID SHEEP WANT TO EAT MY POTATOES! And I didn't even get to the cows and chickens! I was already having a panic attack! Which reminds me:

2. After 21 hours, I was only 29% finished?!? This game is REALLY LONG! If that's your jam - great! I can't stand games that are wasting my time! I want to get to the end of the story! Not constantly worry about the meal preferences of those annoying picky-eaters, or having to travel to the same places over and over so I can gather certain resources so I can finally reveal a bit more of the stupid world map so I can meet more of those lazily designed NPCs!

3. Story, dialogues, etc. - not my thing. I didn't care about anyone's convoluted sob-life-story. If you did- great! I was, in fact, so glad every time I got a character sent off to the afterlife and exasperated when a new one moves in on my sheep.... YOU CAN ALL COOK FOR YOURSELVES, FREAKING SNOBS!

4. World - boring, unimaginative, plain and empty. Especially the towns and little islands. I finally managed to get to the SouthEast area on the map - filled with, again, MANY identical towns, with numerous repetitive mini missions that only make me go back to the same spots I just came from! The game is artificially long! You don't have that much of a story, just you zig-zaging across the world and asking yourself: why.....! WHY ARE YOU WASTING YOUR PRECIOUS FREE TIME ON THIS!

And yes, maybe that's the point of MOST cosy games! The only other cosy game I've ever played was the Disney one by Gameloft (again, because of the art style) and I freaking hated it after realising THE TORTURE WILL NEVER END!

5. I wasn't a fan of the characters... (not the designs or animation, nor did I hate Stella). They felt like stereotypes, and they all had their own sad story or whatever... I just couldn't care. They treated my character like a slave, constantly demanding to be fed a certain type of meal but never specifying exactly what so you end up wasting a lot of resources figuring out what the F&$# do they want! They kept trauma dumping on me and then pulling away accusing me of SUFFOCATING THEM WITH HUGS!! (never hugging anyone in this game ever again!) Their stories were so detailed, specific and boring to read that at certain point I stopped bothering.

6. The moment I realised, I wasn't even half way done and I had a whole bunch of additional furries to discover, feed and "save" while being abused by them, I decided.... you know what ... plenty of people will love this game! I am just not one of them. And I would much rather play an XXL map of Heroes of Might and Magic III than enduring any more of THIS!

I was just the wrong target market for a cosy game! A type of game where you repeat the same mindless activities everyday or you can't progress AT ALL! Real life is already stressful as it is...

Incredibly cozy and sad at the same time. When I pick it up it usually take hours before I can stop playing. It has that nice combo of collecting stuff an building on your boat, combined with actually progressing a story. A story which the game delivers masterfully and ties it up nice in the end. What I love most is that you as the player are not getting all the info in the beginning but you have to try to make sense of this world by yourself.

This game is fun.. but sad at the same time

From the very outset of this game I was having a blast, and I knew I would absolutely love it. But this game is actually immaculate, and I do not use that term lightly. There is genuinely nothing I have a problem with in this game, and it's just... so fantastic throughout. What's maybe most impressive is the genre of the game isn't typically my speed, but I still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loved every bit of it.
Fully recommend this game, genuinely a 15/10, no contest.
