Year and a half later, the game is still a mess.
-Runs badly
-Paradox mods is so much worse than steam workshop
-Too many crashes and error messages
-Slow support
-Still no actual expansions

CS1 is my favorite game and the base game here is actually so good that it's such a shame that the devs still didn't get it to proper 1.0.
In my eyes it's still in early access. Let's just hope it someday leaves it.

this is a heaping pile of dog doo. I have a decent PC, and yet this game poos the bed when it trys to run it. empty map, no traffic, it stutters. dont even get me started on the DLC, the whole ports thing has been delayed YET AGAIN. this is why frontier is on top.

1,180 hours. That's a long time. Understand that probably 600 of those hours, was pretty much just crashing and trying to get the game to work properly. As to anybody wonder if this game is worth it? It's not. If you are a fan of CS1 and have the DLC for it, just play that. This game is a train wreck. It has 2 features you will like. It allows for easy mod support (to help fix the game and make it playable) and it has a better road system than CS1. That's. About. It. Nothing else even comes close to working properly. Want deets? I got you fam.

Skyscrapers that have 7 employees. Elementary schools that are 3 blocks long and house 200 students, vs Elementary schools that are 1 block long and can have 1500 students, with 10 teachers. Industrial plants that have 10 employees, Geothermal campus complexes that have 24 employees. Meaning, the game is set for you to just spam down industrial and commercial zones and it's close to realistic.

Economy is a joke. Imaging having a city with 1000 people, 2,000 available jobs, and some how a 47% unemployment rate. Oh wait, they admit that's broken, just ignore that function please. Trade industry is broken, again, just ignore that function. All exports are broken, you get the gist of it. You want detailed maps and stats for your city? Well you picked the wrong game friend. You want to open a game, and find over half your citizens dead, well this is the right game for you then.

Have a fire? Have a Police call? Have a death call? Cool. The vehicle may or may not be dispatched properly and if it is, the animations from CS1 are gone. Again, creator is aware of the problem, but just ignore for now.

Want parks that are used by the citizens? Try another game. This one, parks are there for 2 reasons. For homeless people to set up camps, or to make the street look pretty. Nobody actually uses them. Want basketball courts and tennis courts to work? Again, go fish. However, if you put down a low rent asset from on of the 8 massive "free" asset pack downloads, you will manage to see 1 basketball court fit over 500 people on it at once. Again, aware, just ignore please.

The game is pretty much unplayable without mods. Without mods you can't really do much of anything. This isn't a city builder and simulator. This game should be relabled as a city painter game. With certain mods, you can make the game look really really good.

But if you are looking for a modern, ultra realalistic city builder game that let's you create and run a metropolis, you're best to play SimCity3000. Yeah, the old broken Sim City franchise is a better city building strategy game then this is.
