The hints were never supposed to be so specific. A hint showing a house just means the object is on/near a house. All hints relating to houses look the same, all hints relating to cars look the same, and so on. We realized that this may be confusing so in the additional levels from the winter holiday update we moved away from this system and in Hidden Paws Mystery we replaced it with a different approach. Sorry you had such a hard time with the yarn. Glad you managed to find it in the end!
How did you look under the map? Did you use some external tool or is there a way to break the in-game camera?
It's ok, don't worry about it. I'm pretty stubborn about not using hints in game and this is the first time I did so, so I was expecting something a bit more specific :P Nice to hear you changed the system, I'm sure I'll find it useful if I get stuck :D
It's a thing you can do in a decent amount of games if it has stuff sticking out the ground. You kind of get close to the floor and move the camera near a wall or similar and then move it down and around, it's a bit hard to explain. It would probably be difficult to prevent that being a thing people do unless you make objects in the game solid, with a flat bottom (including the floor) to prevent you seeing inside buildings and things, but I'm saying this without any developer knowledge, so I don't know if you've done this already :P I did it once by mistake, and only utilised it for this, as I didn't know if I'd get an answer from anyone if I asked for the location of the yarn :P
Sorry if my post sounded rude, looking back on it it does though that wasn't my intention. My apologies and thank you for your response, have a nice morning/evening/night :)
No need to apologize - It didn't sound rude, just understandably frustrated, if anything. Good day to you too!
