You can practice some of the basics with Hanbei the Undying outside and to the right of the Sculptor's Hut. Take advantage of him, and use those skills.

Ignore the Dragonrot for now, it's not super important. No one dies from it and you can use a (limited) item to heal it.

You'll see for yourself ;)
But on a more serious note -- embody the Wolf mindset, you're the boss of this journey, parry your way to victory and have fun, Sekiro's a brilliant trip. :praisesun:

If you want to make it a bit easier on yourself for your first playthrough, you can get a stealth kill on the first miniboss to cut his life in half. After that, you just have to learn the timing to parry his delayed strikes, jump his red-marked perilous attack, and interrupt his grey-marked posture healing. You can make it a bit easier around the edges, but this is Sekiro, so the only way out is through. Bash your head against it until you are able to parry on instinct, and it'll pay dividends later in the game.
