Hurt me plenty!

PROS:

+ blazing fast combat tempo
+ glory executions(melee finishers)
+ aggressive and heavy OST
+ single player campaign level design
+ simplicity and easter eggs
+ MP is quick and fun
+ SnapMap feature paves the way for the creative

CONS:

- I hear some players are experiencing performance issues, despite sporting top-notch rigs
- may be too shallow gameplaywise for some

I had no expectations whatsoever for DOOM.
Initially, it seemed to be a cashgrab attempt at reanimating yet another legendary title of the days long past.
I was so wrong.
DOOM doesn't try to be a trailblazer, it doesn't strive for state of the art game mechanics and it sure as hell doesn't get innovative.
It doesn't need to.
The premises are pretty simple- rip and tear, progress to the next level segment, rip and tear, collect health, ammo and new gear, rip and tear, rip and tear.
And this is why it's so damn great.
DOOM has been visually custom tailored to live up to today's standards while retaining its infernal soul.
I was pleasantly surprised by the single player campaign's maps, which reward inquisitve minds with plenty of hidden collectibles and upgrade points.
The latter can be spent on improving your arsenal and the Doom Marine's combat proficiency.
As for multiplayer- apparently, many people dislike it. IMHO, it's awesome, offering you 10-15 minute long bursts of adrenaline while you butcher your way to victory through other players.
Stunning graphics, hellish beats, buckets of blood and knee-deep in the dead.
What the hell are you waiting for?

"Until we see each other again."
