Sekiro IS NOT A SOULS GAME
i'm so sick of seeing this godamm disinformation. do you call fallout 3 an elder scrolls game because they are from the same company?

sekiro has ABSOLUTLY NOTHING. to do with any souls game. in fact they are opposites of each other

souls - slow a$$ combat system, RPG elements, character creation, dark fantasy, depressing, party horror (some of the enemies design), focusing mainly on grinding to beat strong bosses, your character is slow as hell while bosses are fast as hell which is why those games hard. because your character is moving like a turtle whiles bosses are insanly fast.

sekiro - one of the fastest protaganist in any video game, beraly any RPG elements, no character creation, grinding will not help you much, colorful and bright as opposed to the depression of souls games, japanese style (as opposed to european), combat is focused on fast parrying rather then slow a$$ rolls, actually having a story as opposed to weapons info and calling that "story".

i did mentioned the fact that your character is fast which is why sekiro is much easier then souls games. yes its still an hard game. but because you are also fast you are more equal with fast bosses. unlike in souls games where you are incredibly slow.

the only similiarities between the 2. - same company, meditation points, thats it.

having those 2 DO NOT MAKE THEM THE SAME FRANCHISE

when will the id-iot will learn and stop calling sekiro a "souls game"

in fact, the jedi games, (jedi fallen order, jedi survivor) are way more similiar to sekiro then any souls game. not only because of the meditation points but the combat is very similiar in those 2

It has the core concept of a souls game but is much different in gameplay. Therefore, it's a souls-LIKE. not a souls game.

Dude - don't feed the troll. Seriously, this is a low effort jester farm. Best to ignore the user and move on.

pretty much every boss ever? or most of them at least.
Preacher 15 Dec, 2023 @ 11:38am
its a souls game
Siberian Shaman 16 Dec, 2023 @ 1:41am
i actually agree, no stamina, no rpg stats, no builds, no weapons

I just started playing its the last souls game from fromsoft that i haven't played and its not the in the same vein at all.

also its hard to learn because every hit you take does half your hp, especially bosses

Miyizaki himself said he doesnt consider it part of soulsborne cause its so different
"souls like" means "extremely difficult and unforgiving" and that is a game that is either from the studio FromSoftware or from a studio trying to emulate them. Sekiro IS a souls like....
Ol'Chum 30 Jun @ 9:50pm
its a souls game lmao
souls game
Well Sekiro has bonfire and estus flask and if you rest there your healing item get replenished and so do basic enemies like in Souls likes.

If you die you lose half your progress+dragon rot so there is a slightly different penalty.

In online mode you have remnants which are almost the same as bloodstains.
So you leave info for other players.

Difficulty is high and you die in few hits some can even 1 tap you.

Still it has much lower RPG mechanics and less weapona and such.

Imo it is a more polished game as player can do less stuff.

And many combat arts and there to style againts your enemies.

So Sekiro at least takes many mechanics from souls.

Pellets=life gems from Dark souls 2=healing grass from Demon souls.

Embelms are basically mana or focus points.

There are hidden walls as in souls games.(many souls-likes do not have hidden walls)

NG+ scaling for "poise" damage is the same for Dark souls 3,Elden ring and Sekiro.

Eg.you deal 60% poise, superarmor, stance damage at NG+7 in all three.

Many souls games have optional hard difficulty.

Eg.Dark souls 1 has a ring so you take double damage.

Dark souls 2 has"hard mode"covenant" which is useful for farming but you deal less and take more dmg in PVE.

Sekiro has Demon Bell and charmless for extra difficulty.

Many souls likes do not have extra difficulty built into the game.

Most souls game have the "glass cannon build".

Eg.Red stone ring in DS 1,2,3,the clever rat ring from OG Demon souls 2009.

Sekiro has+25% vit dmg+50% posture dmg but halved health, posture sugar as a high risk high reward option.

Combat wise Sekiro likely has more similarties to Jedi games.

But Jedi games lack many of the above souls like stuff.

+Sekiro likely took many stuff from the Tenchu games as well.

In Sekiro you can likely kill 80% of the enemies from steath with invisible sugar+tools.

And there are even videos on youtube with 100% stealth clear but that takes lot of effort+timings.

I think Sekiro is often harder as you have less RPG and no summons.

Simple reason is in souls you can grind lvls(more dmg,hp) and more importantly ask for help.

A strong Mimic Tear in Elden ring can often kill bosses.

+almost all souls games have in built easy modes usually magic.

Eg.Dark bead can few shot bosses on maximum NG+ difficulty.

Sekiro can not do that with any build you have to git gud and can not brute force.

bro, souls like term started because of demon souls and DS1 , whole point is you died, you lose souls go pick up them again or lose forever . That's all. It's not about combat. Nioh have fast paced combat but it's still souls like

Almost every metroidvania has meditation points type of thing. Not literally the same, but similar, at the very least. And that's in one of the metroidvania core gameplay mechanics, not souls.
