This game is great, the combat is so peak, but I hate the boss fights.

At first im so hesistant to instal it because it's size, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

This feels strange to say, but even though I enjoy eternal for what it is, I cant really recommend it. I played doom 2016 to completion and started eternal that same afternoon, in preparation for dark ages, which I was and tentatively am still excited about. eternal is full of quality of life changes and really good stuff. but what we lost feels like a raw deal to me. i have no problem admitting i beat doom 2016 on its easy difficulty. despite being a seasoned souls veteran, I don't actually play games for the challenge, I play for the gameplay and the story. eternal ramps up the difficulty so much that i double checked more than once in my first hour that i was playing on easy. you run out of ammo CONSTANTLY which was not a problem i really had in 2016 because if you ran out on one weapon, you swapped to another type, finished the fight, scavenge the environment for ammo/armor, then continue. there was a really nice rhythm to it. in eternal you can run out of ammo on all your weapons rather quickly if you arent being mindful of it. which is easy to do when you can get cornered and overwhelmed by enemies who can reduce your health to nothing in mere seconds. reminder im playing on the lowest difficulty. the in game tutorial tells you to never stand still and to always be moving but in large arenas with multiple floors that are crawling with enemies, this got me killed more often than it helped. i would think i was kiting a group of enemies only to back right into a pack of them that i hadnt noticed spawn. I actually had to stop after about an hour or so to check if there were any mods/cheats to give you more health or defense, but i couldnt find any. I have very good reflexes and situational awareness in video games but i dont see myself getting much farther in eternal. I went from being crazy excited for dark ages to going; 'if they just ramp up the difficulty even more, maybe I should pass on it'. I will always love doom and doom 2016 will always be one of my fav FPS, but if hyper difficulty is the route the franchise is headed down, maybe its just not for me anymore.
