Battle is the easiest since Rome 1 and ToB :(
After some thought, I came to the conclusion that the only viable solution to the PLAYER-ALWAYS-WINS-EVERY-BATTLE problem is if the battle is made a whole freaking lot faster than it is. yet, there is no mod that does this. no mods. like, zero.

The other solution would be better AI, which is impossible. It seems pretty hard to miss the fact that the battles in this game are no challenge at all.

To clarify: in 3k battles are so slow that you can use, say 4 out of your 6 peasant infantry to hold off the enemy, and use the 2 remaining infantry to flank. which won't immediately win the battle, but will grind them down. all the while, one of your generals will sure wipe their archers cuz thy're never defended, and then all your generals will have a clear flank position against the enemy. Yes, your poor-equipped infantry can hold that long, which means if the enemy has superior infantry, their superiority is rendered useless.

Only rome 1 could you cheese the enemy so much to the point that you, the player, can win battles at a 75% advantage to the enemy AI. Shame on this game.

I suppose we are talking about legendary difficulty and low-level generals with the same militia against imperial units under the command of some Lü Bu, when the militia simply scatters at the approach of the great and terrible? I'm not saying that the game is difficult, but it's generally strange to read such statements from a player who, judging by his achievements, has never completed the campaign.
In general, this is the first game in the series in which I got carried away by the legendary difficulty, and then returned to previous games to make sure that everything was quite easy there too. Now I'm replaying the campaign again with all the factions (only the Nyanman and the yellow rebels are left) and I'm still having fun. Especially if you follow the lore.
If you are confident in your tactical genius, I am sure that you will like it in multiplayer)))

I do try. but this game's battle is just so underwhelming. having beaten the game means nothing here. or should I wait for the last 100 turns to start having challenge? makes no sense. I can't be the AI, bc the AI was worse in other titles, and yet more difficult. it has to do with the amount of time your tier 1 melee can still hold for very long, and some other issues combined.

look, this is obkjectively verifiable. play some 5 battles in shogun and then 5 in 3K. I even need to reaload a couple of times to attain victory in shogun. check these SS:

BTW, I'm playng "hard" campaign and "very hard" battle. with possibility to pause. But in Shogun 2, even by abusing the pause button (which I almost don't use in 3K), I an sometimes win by a very small margin, whereas in 3K I never break a sweat. THis has ruined the experience honestly. Don't know what to do
Replay battles in shogun to win? lol, my yari ashigaru are laughing in your face)))
Understand, you play with legendary heroes, they alone (without a squad at all) destroy full stacks of the enemy.
I talk about “green”, and you continue about your “wet”. Finish at least one campaign in total war mode, play for other factions (definitely for the robber girl), see how tiring constant overcoming can be, and then with a clear conscience complain about the ease of the game.

DId you see the screenshots? That is trivial. Yes, I have legendary heroes. But I also win with generic heroes almost as easily. If you played Attila, you'd see how much harder it is. You actually feel the danger of losing if you started the battle at a 50% chance of winning.

At any right, I shall try more. I love the lore and campaign in this damned game. But I have a hypothesis as to why this game is easy, and it has to do with battle lenght.

Disclaimer about shogun 2: In defensive siege battles, it's very easy to pull off a Heroic victory, due to AI stupidity

Nobunaga approves this post.

Issue with this and modern total wars is there is always 1-3 units per faction you just spam for win, older ones could be abused that way as well but newer ones love their "doomstacks"
