I'm experiencing this as well.

use shrines its hard to find dig spots in other biomes

Did you un-fix this? I've never seen a single dig spot outside of the desert(THERE are plenty). Im going to try the shrine to spawn them, but still anoying~ ^^'

Make sure to actually clear out the dig spots so they can start spawning in other areas. This affected me and then realised i pretty much dug up all the spots and forced them into the desert

I did that, but it does not work. there where no spots in any other area to begin with.
Even if I dig out every single spot in the desert, they wont spawn in other areas...

But I can make them spawn with the shrine.^^ Thanks to that and Luck Potions, I got everything I need~

I think this is still partially a problem. I do see spots outside of the desert, but they're very rare... maybe 3-5 in the entire biome, while the desert can seemingly have that many or more on each individual island. (Unless it's intended that the desert has significantly more?)

Experiencing this as well, quite frustrating since I have literally only 1 point in the magic skill tree...

It's not fixed at all. I uninstalled the game because of this

I'm also experiencing this, so now I can't progress :(

Well, there's one soft fix to this. If you unlock Shrines from the Faith skill in the Magic branch, you could build a shrine with the chance of getting an Excavator buff that places immense amount of dig spots on the island you placed it on. Does not fix the dig spot glitch, but it at least gives you something.

You can also build a ton of markets and hope the item you need pops up in it. If you prioritize upgrading your shovel, its highest upgrade will allow it drop archaeology items without a dig spot.

It wasn't fixed for me here in september 2020.

Shrines however are the way to go with this.

Have this bug as well. It sucks :( Also only got one of those falling star or whatever spawns in all the hours I've played.

Exactly the same for me. Also no falling stars after some in the beginning, after several hours of game time. Also, golden eggs and artifacts don't seem to drop even with luck potions and tons of animal feed. Something about the RNG seems off.
