This problem could be many things, but the simple answer would be finding out why this is happening on your end first, if it's just alt tabbing then try to change the full screen method to windowed,

it's probably an issue with your mouse being inactive in the game after switching windows for whatever reason.

I did find something similar like this myself, the bottom task bar would appear on top of the game when I alt tabbed back into Forager, I just had to click the task bar and then back into the game

I found that toggling the fullscreen option on and off fixes it after an alt-tab

Same issue here, weird because every other button works, but I can't swing my pickaxe.

Same issue here. I found after I alt tab back to the game, if I move my mouse to the lower right after getting back in the game, then my pick and other tools work again.

Its happening on steam deck and I cant figure it out. Anyone have any ideas?

Just started playing this on my deck and immediately came across this issue. I found that if you go into the settings screen (press B then RB over to the settings screen) and set the full screen to "yes" fixes it.
