Incredibly fun and rewarding.

+ The lovely art style is really shown off thanks to the many unique environments the game has to offer. From lush forests and poisonous bogs, to snow covered mountainsides and underwater caverns. There are many different levels to explore and it was a visual treat seeing them. The soundtrack that accompanies the game is a perfect match and I was even humming along to some of the tunes!

+ Combat can be a good time thanks to 3 weapons at your disposal. A sword, a giant axe, and even claws offer different options to slicing and dicing baddies. There is a skill tree that lets you unlock combos for the weapons, and while it isn't a deep move list, I can still appreciate that it's available. I want to give a shout-out to the bosses in this game. The BIG BADDIES are all unique visually and come prepared to fight with their own special set of attacks and I had fun going toe to toe with them!


- Getting to the skill tree and finding more weapons takes time, and I imagine it will definitely frustrate some people that the pace starts off so slow.

- The story isn't great. It's fairly generic and it never truly does anything that makes it worthwhile. There is enough to keep the player moving forward to the conclusion but you won't be on the edge of your seat at the end...


I had a lot of fun playing through this game. There are some minor annoyances with pacing and a story that doesn't offer much but with a variety of levels that showcase the great visuals and boss fights that are really fun those problems aren't a big issue. Flynn: Son of Crimson doesn't overstay it's welcome and while it is visiting there is a good time to be had! ⭐⭐⭐✨/5 (3.5/5)
