The game was too dark 💀!!

(I mean, there were a lot of black ink on the floors)

Look, I don't want to upset anyone, especially with the huge cult-like following behind this game, but this is one of the least scariest horror games I've played. Unfortunately, the only thing scaring me was the occasional loud sound.

It's weird. I remember watching my favorite YouTubers play this game back in 2017. I also remember being scared to the point where I had to skip the scary parts. Maybe the YouTubers were the ones who made this game satisfying to watch.

But to start off, the enemy AI was terrible. Once you get into a hiding spot, the enemy just leaves you alone like they haven't just seen you getting into a box in front of their eyes. Enemies never lose sight of you, only after you hide or get to a different part of the map. Chapter 3 was basically just fetch quests. After Chapter 4 the saving icon never disappeared. Chapter 5 had one of the longest and most boring fighting sequences ever. In addition, dying had basically no consequences. In fact, dying might even have had benefits in some cases.

What did I enjoy about this game? Well, sadly, not much. But I appreciate the art style and the story. The world of Bendy and The Ink Machine somehow felt like the world of Bioshock. Our protagonist is placed into an almost alien-like world and meets different people who have survived the crude conditions. Of course, I can't compare this game to Bioshock. Criticizing an indie game is not something I kindly do. But after seeing all the hype this game has been getting, I was disappointed.

This game was trying hard to be a horror, but for some reason, it failed in my eyes. I'm sorry to say this, but I'd rather return to any other horror game I've played in the past.

The art style 10/10. The atmosphere 10/10. Compelling you to want to complete it 10/10. Jump scares 7/10 (but still cool)! I want to be friends with Bendy. Play the game and find out why.
