I have played through 4 possible endings currently, but I cannot find a single penny candy or pouty candy to complete all of the achievements. Any tips?

Umm... not sure how to get past this guy. he always pulls a thing at then end of the countdown where he obliterates both of them. what do I do?? It's getting frustrating.
