Controller Support [UPDATED]
Hello everyone,

I just thought I would provide some clarification to the controllers that are supported with this Steam release of VALKYRIE DRIVE -BHIKKHUNI-; so please read before asking questions:

Steam Controller:

- Steam controllers should now be compatible with the updated versions (1.3 / 1.4.2) of the game.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Xbox One / Xbox 360 & PS4 Controllers:

For Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4 Controllers (as well as third-party-variations of these types of controllers) please make sure that the Configuration Support option in the Controller Settings is unticked. This option can be found in the 'General Controller Settings' of the Controller Figuration menu within Steam settings.

To access this go to Steam -> Settings -> Controller -> General Controller Settings and then make sure the PS4 / Xbox Controller Support option is unticked.

If the Configuration Support is ticked for your chosen controller method then Steam will reconigise the controller as a Steam Controller and it will not work with the game. (This issue also occured with SENRAN KAGURA BON APPETIT).

Xbox One Controller:

- Xbox One Controllers are compatible but may become unresponsive if the Xbox 360 Driver is enabled / active at the same time that you are using the Xbox One Controller.
- Xbox One Controllers are best used wired (via USB); but wireless (via Bluetooth) should also work fine; especially on Windows 10 or with the Wireless Receiver.

Details on how to connect an Xbox One Controller wirelessly (via Bluetooth) to the PC can be found here: http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-xbox-one-controller-to-pc

In order to use the Xbox One Controller wirelessly (via Bluetooth) the controller must be updated to the latest firmware; this can be done by downloading the Xbox Accessories App (via the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 PC's) and connecting the Controller to the PC via USB Cable.

Microsoft also advises that Windows 10 Anniversary/Creators update is installed (for use with new-style Xbox One Controllers with built-in Bluetooth).

Xbox 360 Controller:

- Xbox 360 Controllers work fine wired (connect to PC before starting the game).
- Xbox 360 Controllers (Wireless) should work fine with the Xbox 360 Wireless Reciever

PS4 Controller:

- PS4 Controllers work fine wired (connect to PC before starting the game via USB Cable).

Those wishing to use the PS4 Controller wirelessly can do so via Bluetooth or the Sony Wireless Receiver; HOWEVER in order for the controller to be used with PC Games DS4Windows may need to be installed and active.

Bear in mind that by using DS4Windows your PC will believe that you are using a wireless Xbox 360 controller and as such Xbox 360 inputs will display on screen as opposed to PS Buttons. In order for PS Buttons to be displayed the controller needs to be connected via USB Cable to your PC.

If anyone has any issues (or questions) regarding controller support then please feel free to drop post them in this thread.

I have just followed this guide which got my DS4 to work in the game however it still shows Xbox prompts over the wireless, wired shows the DS4 prompts without any issue. I am using the Sony DS4 Wireless adapter, I have the program DS4Windows installed but I do not have it running at all.

Dissapointed that Steam Controller do not work as it's the only one I got. I hope you consider support for it in the future, still gonna keep the game for now, might get a refund later.
I do hope that we can get steam controller support soon. The way I used my steam controller is that I customized the controls for the keyboard binding. It isn't the best but it is an alternative until we get steam controller support.

I use to use a generic controller (thustmaster dual analog 4) with x360ce when i have problems. Right now if i plug the controller normally the rigth stick doesnt work and only recongnises the left upper button and trigger as if those where L2 and R2 respectively. Usually with the x360ce works, but with this game is as if I didn't have it.

Alright I figured the problem I was having with my controller not working with Valkyrie Drive. The problem for me at least was the g13 joystick had to be disabled in the device manager i hope that helps anyone. So if anyone is running a Logitech g13 you can try disabling it in the device manager. Also forgot to mention i'm using a PS4 Controller.

@draco_andreu_7: x360ce is an XInput emulator. While VD supports Xbox gamepads, it doesn't necessarily mean it employs XInput - it doesn't (as pointed out in here.)

So unfortunately no XInput-based utility would work unless something is changed on the game's side - no x360ce, no native Steam Controller support (except via keyboard emulation) etc.

I believe this is a known issue with DS4Windows and that via a Wireless setup it can cause issues with incorrect button prompts being displayed (not just an issue isolated to VALKYRIE DRIVE but can happen with other titles as well).

Are any other drivers (for USB/Controller devices) enabled are active at the same time; as this can sometimes cause issues.

Thank you for the clarification :) well in that case i'll try keyboard emulation or stick to a mouse+ keyboard configuration although make the game less enjoyable in my taste. Unless they change something down the road. I hope to it wiuld be a shame to not enjoy this game to the fullest just because i can't aford a better controller.

So does PS4 Controller support work natively? No 3rd party programs needed? (DS4 etc)

Yes; connect the controller to your PC using the USB Cable before starting the game.
