Maybe CI:GO would work.
I can't believe that I'm saying it, but looks like Gabe knows that mean number 3
whats the point of making a 3rd game of this if it doesnt add to or change the formula in some meaningful way
l4d1 brought the concept to life l4d2 added balance changes and alternate weapons along side Si to balance versus better
yea l4d3 would just add to the story and be a source 2 port which isnt valves style if that was th case wed have half life 10 at this point
With that argument we can say the same thing about the Call of Duty franchise. It is extremely redundant.
Maybe it's part of Valves philosophy of how they view creating sequels, but it's interesting considering how many people want another left 4 dead and another half life. and yet nothing has been done.
This Is The Answer I'm Looking For, That's The Reason Why We Don't Need L4D3
It May Ruin So Many Things Too Buuut Well, A Lot Of People Don't Understand It That It Was Repeated Many Many Times
Most Likely Valve Won't Make A 3rd Game That's Their Reason To Keep Number 2 Only :V
yes tryarch isnt valve... im not gonna do some proper research into it or anything and just saying stuff i just know from memory valve probably got this philosophy early on due to half life 1 being one of the first games to take story world building and imersion pretty damn seriously without taking the player into a cutscene at that
half life 2 focused on telling an actual story and worked on being a tech demo for the source engine with its dynamic world interaction through props which even now is still impressive and can even supras vr interactive experiences making alyx extremly hard to top just for that reason alone
Left 4 Dead was a core concept made by Turtle Rock Studios which got the idea for this game by just going up against a bunch of counter strike bots rushing in with knifes only
This kinda became the beta of l4d and when valve saw it they saw potential and made it the game we know and love (this brought smoker into grabbing and pinning survivors etc) Funny enough Evolve and dare i say Back 4 Blood couldve also been great games if TRS were better at implamenting their concepts Especially evolve was held back by greed behind every monster being DLC
Portal probably revolutionised puzzle games which was some weird puzzle game that was from some college and they hired and implamented into the source engine and was part of the orenge box as an extra ting but ended up being a huge hit
Do i even need to say that Team Fortress is like one of the OG if not THE OG Class Based Shooters?
they took and intigrated ideas from other developers modding their games and young students trying to become developers inivotaive ideas to make games rather than just developing their own from scratch
with each game they made its always had some purpose and not only became their standards but their philosophy too so making half life 3 just to finish the story isnt good enough
CS2 is the only game that got a bit of a diffrent treatment and just got a engine upgrade due to the fact its a literal Esport game and the game was really getting outdated despite being such a big game
Edit: Even valves recent game Deadlock is putting FPS into a MOBA game and it somehow works
where something like trayarch has become dependent on its well known IP Francise Call Of Duty which they rehased and rebalanced again and again and if they tried something new it would probably Flop and be hated for not releasing a new game to the franchise which will inevitibly be their own demise
and yea while its nice to have a good game be tourched up and refreshed it still kinda is redundent
