Stop calling it a DLC, that cringe
We literally got Water Parks, way better graphics, multiplayer, better AI, an improved roller coaster designer, better path builder, plazas, and a complete engine overhaul. What do you mean “DLC”? Do you not get how game development works?

They wanted to add Water Parks to Planet Coaster 1, but back in 2019, they said it wasn’t possible with the engine they were using. So, they started working on Planet Coaster 2. What’s the problem? What were you expecting?

Here's why a new game makes sense:

  • New Concept: Waterparks are a huge addition. A completely new core element of the game.
  • Engine Overhauls: Better performance and updated graphics and AI.
  • Enhanced Customizability: More options to tweak and personalize your park, like scalable assets, which is a nightmare to implement on a technical side when you have an existing game that can't do that.
  • First-Person Exploration: Walk around and experience parks from a visitor’s view.
  • Multiplayer/Co-op: Unconfirmed details, but that you can do any multiplayer at all - even asynchronous - in such a simulationally complex game is exciting, and this shows that they're likely still working on more multiplayer functionality.
  • Improved Building Tools: Easier and smoother ways to design paths and coasters.
  • Dynamic Weather and Stable Performance: Runs smoothly at 60FPS on consoles, even in pre-alpha.
  • Expanded Themes: A LOT of new assets with the 4 new themes, alongside the original.
  • Safety Features: Lifeguards, sunscreen, and shade to keep guests safe in the waterparks. They didn't "just add waterparks", but also a lot of depth that make it a whole-ahh feature you have to learn, understand, and explore.
  • Per-Guest Heatmaps: Extremely fine-grained guest opinions that help you make your park literally perfect, which is also like, huge.
  • Customizable Rides: More options to personalize flat rides and coaster cars.
  • Popular Features Carry Over: Expect features like Power and Water Treatment from Planet Zoo.

Calling it a “♥♥♥♥♥♥ DLC” just shows you don’t understand the scope of what’s new. This isn’t a minor update; it’s a big step up from the first game. This is also not just something they could "update" - It would be savegame-breaking! And no, an "importer" doesn't mean that savegames are compatible.

As people had nothing to refute they decided to give you free points with a Jester award (wait until they give it to me, please don't cut yourselves off, give me your points, I'll gladly spend them in the points shop).

I agree with you, it's not DLC. They will put in new rollercoasters, new flats, new building and decorating tools, etc... it will be all new.
It's not DLC, its update!
Seriously, people haven't noticed the jump in graphic quality and other things when comparing Planet Coaster (2016) with Planet Zoo (2019)? Frontier is a leader in simulation games, they did a great job with RCT3, they did it again with Planet Coaster, they did it with Planet Zoo and now they will do it again with Planco 2 adding one of the things that people asked for the most: aquatic parks.

The haters, really, have absurd arguments to give their opinion on a game that you haven't even seen a gameplay of, since we will see that on the 31st at the Frontier Unlocked, but I'm sure that the game will not disappoint those of us who have really been waiting for this sequel for years.

I love how people talk about a game that hasn't even come out, as if they have been playing it for years! You got all that from a single video and some concept art? Cringe!

I took all the publicly available information for the list of features as announced from the devs, yet people seem to want to complain before the game is even out. That's why I'm frustrated. Like, what do people expect of a sequel?

The games engine is like 10 years old - and you can't just update the engine without breakign sht. Good that there is a new game with a fresh beginning.
It just looks the same, there isn't that much visual difference. RTX support? After the first one became paying for each attraction... I lost interest in the game.

It is how the company works. Have you looked at frontier how it did the Planet Zoo game? It basically cuts up the game and sells the other parts as DLC. This is the same economical way EA sells the sims 4 DLC. There using the same forumula.

What's really cringe is people who say "whole-ahh".

RTX support? Of course the game will run on NVIDIA Graphics Cards.
Hi Alyx! You made a great point and explained it very well. =)

Some folks are never satisfied, even if they understand how game development works. That won't change anytime soon.

We don’t know enough to judge anything yet, except that we’re all getting the game we wished for in the first place: an improved and better Planet Coaster 2 (finally!!!).

The game will receive updates and DLC after its release. As with Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo, some improvements and features will be free, while others will be paid (additional content to further develop the game—if someone doesn’t want to buy a DLC, they don’t have to).

Even in Planet Zoo, you could see the DLC pieces and content in the game; you just couldn’t place them if you didn’t buy them. That seems pretty fair to me. =)

Nowadays, you can’t run a big game studio, release a game, and continue developing it for three or more years without generating income during that time. There are real people working behind the screens, and they deserve to be paid fairly so they can cover their bills.

This will be a new game, whether some complainers like it or not. It’s Planet Coaster, so why should it look like a completely different game? Time is ticking, and a day has only 24 hours. There will be things the developers would love to include or change at release, but they simply don’t have the time or staff or even enough money to do so.

I usually don’t write about such topics, but as I said, you made a great point here. =)

Happy building!
