I believe the game took 9 years of development, and even at its peak, the community wasn't nearly large enough for it to be commercially viable. At this point, it's a miracle it's even still running, as I saw Elyot (lead dev ?) mention in another post that just keeping the servers up is a 2-300$ flat loss per month.
I honestly think Prismata can be the game of your life. But that is, if you're part of a really, really small niche. I suppose for a sequel to make any sense, the gameplay should be so different that it would be weird to even call it a sequel.
