Ubisoft is known for creating absolutely stunning environments and they are visually breathtaking , but thats all !
But the execution of gameplay mechanics tied to the story often falls short : unenjoyable , trying to fill the world with content
While playing in 2024, it's easier to appreciate the gameplay under newer expectations, but many missions still lack depth and quality

This is more of a "mixed" rewiev than a straight "thumbs up"

Could've been perfect, but it's held down by typical Ubisoft problems: unnecessary loading/transition screens in every mission and a world filled with meaningless stuff in a poor attempt to create a rich environment.
The general concept of the game and the city itself are pretty good and the gameplay loop is fine, but honestly i would've dropped this game before long had it not been for the characters, which are the one thing Ubisoft did nail.
I found the story to be rather uninteresting and uninspired with the typical "generic protagonist joins a new group of friends with similar ideals to f*ck corrupt corporations over" but the redeeming grace of this all were the main characters themselves and the interactions between them; from the protagonist Marcus to the famous Wrench and the rest of the hacker group, their spontaneous relationships and witty remarks might've been the only thing to keep me going at times when playing this game almost felt like a chore.
Might just be nostalgia talking but i played Watch Dogs 1 a long time ago and i remember being a lot more immersed in the story of Aiden struggling to balance his secret hacker "job" and his disastrous family life.

Sometimes i miss when devs focused on building good stories and not just fancy graphics and animations.
