Kevin is an absolute goat, they need to make more protagonists like him. This is the game that closes off the sky trilogy and you better already have trails from zero and trails to azure in your cart once you're done here

An end of an era. What an amazing journey this trilogy has been. An absolute must play despite the weird game structure of dungeon crawling and intrusive lore doors with no regards for other people's privacy. A great study into the psychology of KEVIN GRAHAM and does huge wonders for his character, elevating him to one of the best characters in Trails. Despite what people say about the story and the game, the gameplay itself is extremely enjoyable, though it can get a bit more monotonous due to the dungeon designs not changing that much still. I had a blast and also a huge meltdown saying goodbye to all my lovable characters( and chests) one last time. Really looking forward to Trails To Zero and seeing more of what trails has to offer!

Trails in the Sky the 3rd is the final game of the Liberl arc of Trails. The game is definitely the most different of the trilogy, even going as far as to change protagonists, the old protagonist becoming a side character/party members.

The story of 3rd is...interesting. The story itself is fantastic, but the way they tell it is weird, almost reminiscent of Episode Aigis from Persona 3. The game has a main narrative, and it's excellent, but it's very short if that's all you do. But throughout the game, there are doors you can find, a lot of them, and they all give you flashback memories of events from before the first game, events in between SC and the 3rd, and etc. The doors are optional, but borderline mandatory if you want the extra lore of the Liberl arc characters, and some also set up events for future Trails arcs, making them quite important, especially one in particular that is extremely important. While I do like the story, how it's presented isn't my cup of tea. I don't like seeking doors and watching flashback scenes, I usually prefer the typical approach to story telling in games like these, and this is also the only Trails game that does this apparently. So while it is odd, it isn't bad.

The gameplay feels better than the first two sky games in terms of combat, it's mainly just the same as SC but the party building and stuff is cooler for sure. The game is radically different from the first two in terms of the general gameplay loop though. Without spoiling anything past the first hour, you don't spend any time in Liberl in this game, you spend the entire game in a weird dimension, with a hub world, and the ability to teleport between the different dungeons and hub world. This game is more gameplay focused than the first two, and the entire game is essentially just exploring different dungeons, then warping to the hub world when needed, while story plays out throughout the game as well, of course. I'm not the biggest fan of this game's overall structure, but it is also the only Trails game that does it, and the game itself is quite good, so it's nothing I see any point in complaining much about.

The music is fantastic, I remember hearing the boss theme in the prologue with that sick guitar and just knowing Falcom didn't miss on the OST for this game either. I love that we finally have a new battle victory theme, after the first two games used the same one, and every new track in this game is great.

Overall, this game has some real incredible highs, but it never quite hit the peaks of SC in my opinion, and those highs are accompanied by the lowest lows of the trilogy, as well. There were countless times I thought to myself "why is this in the game?", and this is the shortest game of the three, even with the doors, so it's a shame that I'm even asking myself questions like that. But the conclusion was beautiful, and it wraps up the Liberl arc very nicely, while setting up for Crossbell and future arcs. While it may be my least favorite of the Sky trilogy, I still think it's a good game, and a very important game to play for future arcs, as well as concluding some character arcs from the Liberl trilogy itself.
