I initially bought divinity sin 2 for full price when it launched, it's the 3rd game that I ever bought on steam. Since I got it as a new gamer I had no clue what I'm getting into. I ended up dropping it multiple times during act 1 without making much of a progress.

I only just beat it recently, in co-op with 2 other people. I had a blast.

We played in a team made up of a warrior, assassin, archer and fire mage.

Some parts worked rly well in co-op, all the arena fights, item and character managment felt smoother when you only had to worry about yourself. You technically could go your way and progress alone but if a fight started with tons of enemies you would need the help of your allies.

It did take us almost a month of playing almost every evening, it is a lot of commitment to ask for.

Alone I imagine the experiance would be a bit faster and smoother, since you would have control over everything when playing alone.

The game is fairly dialogue heavy, so might not be everyone's cup of tea. The quest system at times confused us and we werent sure how to progress and if we even can progress. We did what we could, but still felt like we missed plenty of things, this game is pretty big in terms of content, a lot of achievements to get too. A game for potentially tons and tons of hours.

I do plan to eventually revisit it, in order to focus more on the plot and make other choices, i would also want to play around different classes. In co-op I played mainly as the ranger , and experimented with skills in act 1.

The game is kind enough that it lets you pretty much change your gameplay/skills/stats anytime starting from act 2.

Like many others, I bought this game to get some more turn-based-RPG action after completing Baldur's Gate 3.

Compared to the latter, the game features a lighter atmosphere and a slightly different system for spells and actions, opting for turn-based "Action Points" (AP) costs - which regenerate each turn - rather than slots you regenerate by resting; I personally found this system more enjoyable.
The second main difference in the combat system is that it's based on two types of armor, physical and magical, which are both independent from one another.

The plot, divided in 4 acts spanning about 100 hours in total, is interesting but, in my personal opinion, hard to follow at times due to some narrative choices by Larian (this is evident - IMO again - especially in some quests in Act 4).

Featuring cartoon-style graphics, the game is pretty light on the system, making it really portable.
The soundtrack is also pretty nice, with some forgettable tracks as well as tunes you'll be thinking about in your daily life.

What really set this game apart from many others is that, not unlike BG3, it always offers creative ways to avoid combat and/or to beat powerful enemies and challenges, one just has to find them.

Last but not least, it's possible to not only host and join multiplayer campaigns but also to create your own campaigns if that's your thing.

Overall, I'd say the game is still worth its price seven years after its original release and a total no-brainer during sales (there is also a bundle offering Divinity OS 1&2 for a very convenient price)

Playing this after Baldurs Gate 3 i went in with lower expectations but this game is nothing short of impeccable.
The Story, Companions, Dialouge, Combat, Exploration are all superb.

Another big plus for the game is its replay value much thanks to different dialogue options and different playstyles and builds to play around with and if that isn’t enough there are also tons of mods to enhance the game even further.
