I also want to add that, for Nvidia cards, setting the "low lantency mode" to ultra (in the control panel) is key to get a fluid performance
1. in Steam on the Library tab, right click on the game name and click Properties
2. in the properties dialog's left-hand pane, select Betas
3. in the Betas dialog, to the right of the Beta Participation item, click the drop-down menu and choose the map_save game version
4. exit and restart the game if it's currently running
Afterwards, in the Library game list, [map-save] will appear at the right-hand end of the game name.
