7 potions is a bit high, but still expected. The lvl 4 Boss is one of the strongest Bosses in the game.
In long fights, the RNG evens out, and that fight is very long, so RNG won't help you or handicap you. Even against Elite, the RNG evens out most of the time.
Try to favor the damage mitigation of your tank.
Also, did you notice that if you use 2 potions in a row, the 2nd potion is less potent ? So you have to plan ahead to use your potions.
Very glad to know that it is one of the hardest bosses!
Congrats on beating him in a challenging difficulty for you..! :-)
It kinda does, but actually, many people give up too easily on the 1st tough challenge, so not giving up shows you have a good strength of character..!
And Soldier is the 1st difficulty level where you need to get all the basics of the game to prevail in the fights, so it's already quite decent, no worry..! :-)
Hell on a 1st run and without complaining is quite a feat ! 😱
You might run into shock points though, if you didn't carefully manage your potions (ie: the Level 4th Boss, as explained above).
If a fight is so tough that it often relies in random number luck like dodge..... then your encoutner design sucks hard and its NOT the players lacking character. Just a nice meant advice
it would but the combat system doesn't rely on being lucky : the long fights even out the numbers, and you have plenty of emergency abilities to handle the shorter phase when they don't.
It gets tough for some people because they don't use the 1st levels to learn the rules, and once the game assumes you have learned them, they are overwhelmed.
Sorry i DID play the game and i DID beat the boss but the fact that you think Dicerols even out over about a 100 rolls in a fight explains your encounter design. Nothing personal realy.
