Vulkan Support
Using DirectX 10/11 on an AMD GPU causes the game to lock up after a period of time.
OpenGL will work start to finish, but performance is really bad with FPS dropping to single digits.
The game needs Vulkan API support for those of us on AMD.

I remember I had that too. There is a setting for it in the options that fixes this. But I don't remember which setting. You'll have to experiment.

Or maybe just ask for a refund, if you can't figure it out, because if you "experiment" more than two hours, they no longer do refunds, if you can't fix it under two hours.

But there is a setting you can change to fix this.

I have hundreds of hours played. I'm way past the point of getting a refund.
I've done a lot of experimenting with the in-game options; I'm not sure what else I could try. Are you sure you can't remember what setting to change?

I wish I could remember it, but I had the exact same thing, serious slowdowns after some time of playing, and I did something that fixed it. But I don't remember what I did. :steamsad:

I only remember that there was a fix for this.

Oh, mine isn't slowing down - it freezes completely. I have to use Task Manager to close the game.

That's strange, I never experience crashes/freezes, and I am also using an AMD/ATI card and running on DirectX. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your GPU model.

Try dxvk?

Done that; didn't work. DXVK isn't guaranteed to handle any game you plug it into.

Nah, never a guarantee. But still worth trying.

Options > Graphics > Technical Graphics options > Force Pipeline Sync [set to: enable].

That fixed it for me.

Tried that already. Didn't work.

Yeah. How annoying. I'll see if I can figure out what causes this. This may take some more time.
I managed to replicate the issue though. It happens sporadically, it's unpredictable, but often freezes at the same location, for example, when leaving a specific teleporter but not always but sometimes at that location under a certain situational condition. So that's at least something. It's not just you.

Something must be causing this. If we can't figure it out, we'll simply have to save more often, I suppose.

I'm going to be running some more tests. It's not a wild surge. There is a pattern.

I always replicate it by going into the very first teleporter over and over until I get the freeze. Only takes a couple minutes this way.

Yep. This seems to be a bug that more often happens near a teleporter. Specifically the teleporter near the house that has you lower a ladder, on the first map. Where there is a key on the house.

Go through that teleporter 5 times, and it is guaranteed to crash repeatedly after the 5th time going through it.

Why does that happen? I have no idea. But it can be replicated. Now we just need to find something that fixes it. :steamfacepalm:

Has this been confirmed to by an AMD issue?

You could try dgvoodoo 2.
AustrAlien2010 1 Dec, 2021 @ 11:46pm
I don't know. I never really started noticing this issue until now. I am still looking into it.

I thought there was a fix for this, but I am beginning to doubt myself now, because I can't find it anymore.

Maybe this bug has always been there, and I just never noticed it before this topic. I need to run some more tests first.
