Original Maps/Levels, where are they?
I know the original maps were kinda mazes but that's why I love this game, I finished it countless times on my N64, but to play this version with completely simplified levels makes me feel really bad, like something.

And I know what you're thinking: "But even now, there are still people who get lost..."

Then, I answer: "Why should I ♥♥♥♥ing care if they got no sense of direction?!"

That's one of the major feature I love in this game, just like DOOM, Quake I & II Duke Nukem, Serious Sam or any other shooter, the exploration, the multiple paths.

That's something missing in modern games, so this is why I think these redesigned maps creates a completely butchered version of this game...

So, can we have at least an option to switch to original maps?

Oh look, someone asking for the original versions of the levels without resorting to insulting the devs. Antroid could learn a thing or two from you.

More on topic, once the mod tools are out, Quasar will probably release the uncut levels as a mod the way he did with Turok 1.

Yeah, a bit after the modkit came out, he posted a mod that changes the levels back to the n64 versions.

Is there any place in which I can check all the map changes between this version and the N64 version?

Someone made a post about it with pictures a while back. Try the search function.

i listed out the layout differences here

http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/app/405830/discussions/0/135512133545298495/

but i have no idea about minor stuff getting moved around, like keys and warp portal switches or enemies and item pickups. this is just the differences that are immediately apparent when glancing at the two map layouts side by side.

There we go, now it's a quality thread. Good to know others can manage without me :P (lol, Seamus seems a bit obsessed)

I feel the same way. I hope there may be a way to play the N64 versions of the maps, without any changes in item locations or map design. Why can't the devs simply add a ingame option for those people who like it the old way? Shouldn't be that difficult. I thought this is a remaster after all!!

So, any news on the possibility to play the original maps? I played the 1998 PC version shortly before getting the remaster so I immediately noticed all the map changes and was not very happy about them (I honestly liked being lost and sometimes backtracking, it was the part of the game experience).

I was in same position like OP, with bringing in original mp maps. I think original maps can be restored with modding, after dev give uncut ver...BUT the big question is: Will be modders enaf skilled to restore/substitute original functionality?! In each map set are unique things, that couldn't ported well or work proper in kex, heck even most things had to be remade in remaster, just look around self...So depends a lot on how much can be done in future, with copy paste of classic elements... For now if you miss original sp maps, just play classic..(it is not so bad, when you set game proper, by using shortcut parametres, fps can go on 100+, there are good graphic wrappers like dgvoodoo 2 and nglide)
And one unique thing more, what i would like to see that NDS dev bring to us, with scaling brightness lvl in original, you can tune gameplay atmosphere, if you like more gothic or more light up...here example what i did in classic mp, it should give you idea for that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HbcutBJebc and this1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJWwLZijrRw So that all applying on original sp feel. Let's hope that more things can be restored for remaster to, what classic have, out of box.

Are you telling me these levels have been reworked and Lair Of The Blind Ones is STILL as atrocious as it is?
